The Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club is for members who enjoy golf, tennis, swimming, sailing, fine and casual dining and fun social events for all ages in a beautiful waterfront setting. Founded in 1960, this secluded jewel is one of the Shore's best kept secrets. 

ESYCC Today

The Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club is the focal point for social and recreational activities for its members and the extended community. Overlooking Taylor Creek, just around the bend from Pungoteague Creek, the golf course, pool, tennis courts and dock hum with activity throughout the season. With the opening of the new Clubhouse in Fall 2020, the restaurant and bar offer unparalleled fine dining with spectacular waterfront views as well as family friendly and casual dining throughout the year. Sunday brunch is a particular favorite.  
Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club is one of the Shore's premiere venues for both community and private events, including weddings, reunions, celebrations and company/organization meetings.  
The Pro Shop & Golf Course are also well known as desired locations for Charity Tournaments.

Governance

The club is guided by its Board of Directors and governed through By-Laws, General Rules and Regulations. The Board is selected by members in good standing at the Annual Meeting and meets monthly. Board Committees direct their attention to particular areas of the club and make recommendations to the Board. Board meetings are open to all members.
Day to day operations are under the auspices of the General Manager, who receives direction from and reports to the Board. 
We are professionally managed according to guidelines established by the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA), Professional Golf Association (PGA), and the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Our History

Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club was founded in April 1960, when 125 acres of land on Yeo Neck were acquired from Levin T. Johnson. Eddie Ault was selected as the golf course architect. Among the important milestones in our 60 year history are the following:

The Club has 285 members
JUNE 7, 1961
The Board of Directors holds their first meeting in the new clubhouse 
SEPTEMBER 2, 1961
Club holds Grand Opening 
SEPTEMBER 23, 1961
The first nine holes of the golf course are officially opened for play 
JUNE 17, 1965
The second nine holes are officially opened for play
1967
The Virginia State Open Golf Championship is held at the Club, with leading state golf professionals Tom Strange, Chandler Harper, Herb Hooper, and Claude King participating. Former PGA Champion Chandler Harper wins this tournament.
1985
Our dock is damaged for the second time after a hurricane. Dock Chairman Morgan Ridington makes our dock extension possible through his diligent service and creativity.
DECEMBER 23, 2017
Disaster strikes when a fire burns down the Clubhouse. 
OCTOBER 2019
A new Sports Center with Pro Shop, locker rooms and Fitness Room opens and becomes a vital new center of activity for ESYCC. 
SEPTEMBER 18, 2020
Thanks to the hard work and planning of many members, a brand new, well-appointed Clubhouse celebrates its Grand Opening.
